The Cartographer's
Atlas — or, the living map of the world —

A world conjured from a single integer — elevation, climate, biomes, rivers, and the Winds of Magic, all derived. Nothing authored. Change the seed; receive a new world.

How the World is Made

Five procedural fields, in sequence — from raw noise to a fully typed world-state.

  1. I · Elevation Domain-warped fBm with a continent mask plus an island — smoothed twice to form contiguous highland ranges rather than salt-and-pepper peaks.
  2. II · Temperature Latitude band with a lapse rate — warmer toward the equator band, colder at altitude.
  3. III · Moisture Coastal proximity boost combined with rain-shadow loss from elevation.
  4. IV · Biomes Percentile-based thresholds on land elevation — peaks are always the top 6%, regardless of seed — combined with temperature and moisture rules for 9 biome types.
  5. V · The Winds of Magic A single mana field: low-frequency fBm pockets of high and low wind, punctuated by five seeded Gaussian wells. No affinity, no type — only stronger and weaker founts.
